let me tell you, having friends that work for disney is freakin awesome. i got to go to the holiday party on tuesday night, which just means they shut the park down for employees and their friends and family, which ultimately means NO LINES!

it was fuh-reezing, and i did not dress even remotely appropriate for the weather, but it really doesn’t matter when you’re walking around enjoying the lights (and the churros).

luckily for me, since it was so cold, nobody wanted to go on any “real” rides, so we just did all storybook rides, which are the only ones i’ll go on other than dumbo.

i was terrified the first time i did the haunted mansion a couple years ago though. i was not prepared at all for the claustrophobic room sinking and pitch black-ness. now at least i know what to expect.

small world it seriously breathtaking. walking up to it with all the lights is pure disney magic.

i went a little photo crazy on the ride. i love the littel gus gus next to cinderella!

i also had a little too much fun with the bokeh features in big lens, but night like this were made for fuzzy heart lights, no?

i made the mistake of picking this guy up. well no, not mistake. but once i picked him up i couldn’t put him down. he came home with me.

i mean, COME ON. is there anything better than the happiest place on earth at christmastime?

wait, what? hello?
oh christmas tree.
happy owl-idays!

like i mentioned a couple days ago, i don’t really decorate for the holidays. one year i bought a 5-foot tall pink sequined cone shaped tree, but we didnt have anywhere to store it, so it just became a permanent fixture. i actually just got rid of it this most recent move. it just feels silly to decorate when you live alone. plus its to expensive, and then there’s the storage issue. but i have to admit, this year i’ve been wishing i had the means and motivation to put up some twinkle lights. and i am a sucker for sad little charlie brown trees, but i was worried about kitty knocking it around. so i was at the art store today getting some canvas and i saw this little number and figured it was perfect! it adds just the right amount of festive to my living room, and i can paint it a different color ever year if i want to (i was going to attempt to do some sort of polka dot pattern today, but i’m a lazy crafter), and it goes away easy when the season is over. and, it would look adorable with some little presents under it if you wanted to send me any! all the ones i wrapped today went right to the post office…but isnt my wrapping paper cute?!
