i’ve always been an instant gratification kind of girl. i never understood saving things for later. why not enjoy it now? so whenever i buy new things, i inevitably want to wear them immediately. luckily, all of the new things i bought this day happened to match. i win!

from the minute i saw the kate spade previews people had pinned for this line, i new i needed it. ideally, the tote bag would be mine. alas, since the cushy discount is no longer mine, makeup bag it is. but it doubles nicely as a clutch, dontcha think?
the weather in la has been frustratingly indecisive lately, so this outfit was actually wildly inappropriate - i was FREEZING all day. isn’t it supposed to be summer all year? this nonsense wasn’t in the brochure.

can i just tell you how excited i was when i figured out this outfit? i left the house all happy-skippy and then got to my car only to find a parking ticket. i should have known it would be trouble from there. problem is, this dress is see.through. no problem, i thought, i’ll just put on the slip. (do people even wear slips anymore? i don’t even know how i happen to have one!) so while i’m gallivanting around that day, the slip kept riding up - rendering itself useless. and it was windy. so windy! so the skirt kept flying about, and what with the slip basically being around my waist, well…you can only imagine. after my art store run and coffee shop internet time, i ran home and immediately put on sweatpants. but its so cute, right? so i put it back on just to snap some photos. lesson learned though - i need a new slip.

while this guy spent a good portion of the last day of 2011 cleaning out his closet and taking a buttload of clothes to goodwill, i reached into the depths of mine for some nye inspiration. i’ve only worn this dress once before because its pretty loud and really little. i tried my best to make it a little less scandalous and more age-appropriate but still dressy and fun for our evening of excitement. also, i flippin love these booties. i kind of wish i could wear them everyday.

wouldn’t it be nice to be one of those girls who wakes up and just gets dressed? this outfit may look effortless, folks, (or not? i cant tell) but let me tell you, it was not. i am one of those girls who stands for hours in front of a packed to the gills closet in a bathrobe contemplating not leaving the house because i have nothing to wear. its a sickness i’ve been dealing with my whole life. in the end though, it usually does somehow pull itself together.
i did, however, get told today that i gave A+ service. you bet your ass i do. doesn’t hurt to hear it though.
oh! and see the summer version of this outfit here!

i’m trying to break out of my bubble, but also keeping in mind that its okay to have a routine and know what works. finding the balance and realizing that nobody really gives a shit, when it comes down to it. not in a bad way - just in a do-your-own-thing-and-be-happy-with-it kinda way.

you know those days when you roll out of bed and its FUH-REEZING? and you’re like eff it, i don’t care - i just want to be WARM!? yesterday was one of those days, but somehow it turned out in my favor! the only trouble was staying awake at my desk since i was all wrapped up and cozy-like.

sometimes magical things happen when you leave the settings on your camera from the last time you were taking pictures. yesterday was actually super gloomy - hence the layers - but you would think there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. i love how blown out they are. plus the emo lean against the wall? jordan catalano would approve.

this weekend i took a little trip down to austin for the wedding of one of my best friends. actually, on the way, i realized she is the oldest, closest friend i have to date! kind of a big deal.
she gave us guidelines for a color story and let us pick out our own dresses and shoes, so this is what i went with! the dress was a teeny bit too snug around the ribcage so i may or may not have busted a seam by the end of the night, and my legs are still paying the price of these shoes. but well worth it, my friends. the day was AMAZING.
