hey have you guys heard of instacanv.as? its this site that lets people buy your instagrams! i believe all you do is upload them and then when someone buys one, instacanv.as prints it on canvas and ships it to them and you get part of the profit. the thing is, so many people are trying to open galleries that it takes awhile unless you have people requesting yours to be opened. and thats where you come in! if you could go to instacanv.as/missamylovesla and request a gallery opening, then my gallery will be opened sooner! and i’ll love you forever and be so grateful! hooray! thanks, yall. 

holy moley, i cannot believe april is over already. you know you’re getting old when a month flies by in what feels like the span of a week. but there it is up there, proof that i lived all through april with this months photo a day challenge. as always, i’m struggling with my own photo a day challenge (and lets not even talk about my weekly paintings. yeesh.) anyways, heres what march looked like. ready for may? follow me on twitter and instagram to keep up the whole way!

if you follow me on instagram or twitter, you probably noticed i’ve joined the instagram photo a day club hosted by fatmumslim. it was a lot of fun, and much easier to stay focused when given a goal everyday - unlike the challenges i’m having with my own photo a day resolution. i’m gonna try and stick with both though. i know i cheat a bit with my own and sometimes use iphone photos, but after this week (you’ll see why in a bit) i’m really going to try and push myself to become better with my dslr. maybe i’ll follow fatmumslim’s guide and just do one instagram and one real photo? we’ll see.

oh! and for reference, here’s the list of the march challenges!

the parking garage in santa monica was packed this morning so i had to park on the roof. luckily it gave me a chance to see the views i would have otherwise never known existed! 

the best weekends include tea time on the roof, farmers market browsing, empanadas and limeade, coffee runs and bike rides. 

i…completely failed at a photo a day this week. i gave myself the theme of flowers & foliage. in hindsight, not such a great idea when you don’t see the sunlight because you’re working 12 hour days. so instead i will leave you with an instagram roundup. turns out that most of them i did actually take on the intended days! (though not intended for this project. shh.)

2/5/12: superbowl sunday! any excuse to make bread dip. 

2/6/12: already getting plenty of use out of this bad boy. 

2/7/12: josie’s super amazing tee shirt. 

2/8/12: pho with nontra to discuss important things like shoes. 

2/9/12: bethany’s last day. we miss her already :(

2/10/12: we’re moving next week! last bittersweet happy hour in the alley.

saturday night, we tried our hand at underground rebel bingo again. this time it was at the dragonfly in east hollywood. i was super pumped because last time was a blast. to be honest though, this time i was ready to leave almost as soon as we got there. i just wasn’t feeling the crowd or the vibe. but then, the countdown started and the sexy british man came on stage, and all was well again. 

this time he played a little charade of being a headmaster type fellow teaching a school of etiquette. we were lectured in proper versus improper socializing and attire (no man wants to marry a prostitute, ladies). once he confirmed the doors were locked and the authorities were nowhere near, all bets were off and it was time for rebel fuckin bingo!

the first round was three games, and it was pretty tense, but neither marshall or i got even close to winning. now, how it works is when you get bingo, you scream “BINGO” at the top of your lungs and race to the stage to give the sexy brit a hug. the point being if more than one person gets bingo at the same time, the first to hug the man wins. so round two started and i figured we should move closer to the stage. just in case. when the grand prize round finally came and they announced the prize was yet again the most awesome 80’s style boom box with ipod hookup, i felt the stars align. i was one number away. i scream-wispered to marshall that all i needed was 29 and the boombox was ours. three or four numbers later, THEY CALLED 29!! i screamed bingo and marshal screamed bingo and practically threw me on stage. i almost forgot about the hug, but remembered just in time because someone else had bingo too!

let me tell you, i was a ball of nerves up on stage as the sexy bingo girls checked my numbers to make sure i wasn’t one of the idiots who thinks they have bingo when they don’t. the tension mounted. one of the girls handed me back my bingo card (with her teeth) and everyone onstage bowed down as i was declared winner and the crowd went crazy! it. was. amazing. 

we left feeling triumphant and got some celebratory street meat from a hot dog vendor on the way back to the car. 

a semi-daily reminder to be present and grateful. a little whimsy doesn’t hurt either. 

thankfully i’ve been diligent enough to actually stick to my photo a day resolution so far. but a few times too many, its been the end of the day and i’m going oh shit! i need to take my photo! so i’ve been brainstorming some themes to follow. i’m gonna start one of them this week, but i haven’t quite settled on which one yet. do you have any ideas for me that you’d like to see to add to the list?

i feel like i’ve been a little MIA around these parts lately, but trust me, i’m still here. these are things that were happening while i was away.

not much is sexier than a cute hipster boy with a bike. i cant wait for it to warm up a little so we can ride! 

it has been FUH-reezing at work lately. i’m all bundled up with leggings under my jeans, my pig puffy jacket and as many knits as i can pile on. it almost helps. 

trips to the comic book store generally prove to be good little photo ops. 

trying to keep this in mind while things are kind of crazy. 

omg a dog in a basket in the back of a mini car. i died. 

oh man, its been a week. i tell ya. luckily i’ve managed to stay on track with my photo a day (will post this week tomorrow) and will do my painting for the week this afternoon, but its been rough. despite the craziness, there have been bright spots that make everything okay.

i needed to switch up my music a bit, as i’m getting bored of my favorites, so i went with the disney classics station. best idea ever.
