the best weekends include tea time on the roof, farmers market browsing, empanadas and limeade, coffee runs and bike rides. 

saturday night, we tried our hand at underground rebel bingo again. this time it was at the dragonfly in east hollywood. i was super pumped because last time was a blast. to be honest though, this time i was ready to leave almost as soon as we got there. i just wasn’t feeling the crowd or the vibe. but then, the countdown started and the sexy british man came on stage, and all was well again. 

this time he played a little charade of being a headmaster type fellow teaching a school of etiquette. we were lectured in proper versus improper socializing and attire (no man wants to marry a prostitute, ladies). once he confirmed the doors were locked and the authorities were nowhere near, all bets were off and it was time for rebel fuckin bingo!

the first round was three games, and it was pretty tense, but neither marshall or i got even close to winning. now, how it works is when you get bingo, you scream “BINGO” at the top of your lungs and race to the stage to give the sexy brit a hug. the point being if more than one person gets bingo at the same time, the first to hug the man wins. so round two started and i figured we should move closer to the stage. just in case. when the grand prize round finally came and they announced the prize was yet again the most awesome 80’s style boom box with ipod hookup, i felt the stars align. i was one number away. i scream-wispered to marshall that all i needed was 29 and the boombox was ours. three or four numbers later, THEY CALLED 29!! i screamed bingo and marshal screamed bingo and practically threw me on stage. i almost forgot about the hug, but remembered just in time because someone else had bingo too!

let me tell you, i was a ball of nerves up on stage as the sexy bingo girls checked my numbers to make sure i wasn’t one of the idiots who thinks they have bingo when they don’t. the tension mounted. one of the girls handed me back my bingo card (with her teeth) and everyone onstage bowed down as i was declared winner and the crowd went crazy! it. was. amazing. 

we left feeling triumphant and got some celebratory street meat from a hot dog vendor on the way back to the car. 

a semi-daily reminder to be present and grateful. a little whimsy doesn’t hurt either. 

thankfully i’ve been diligent enough to actually stick to my photo a day resolution so far. but a few times too many, its been the end of the day and i’m going oh shit! i need to take my photo! so i’ve been brainstorming some themes to follow. i’m gonna start one of them this week, but i haven’t quite settled on which one yet. do you have any ideas for me that you’d like to see to add to the list?

i feel like i’ve been a little MIA around these parts lately, but trust me, i’m still here. these are things that were happening while i was away.

not much is sexier than a cute hipster boy with a bike. i cant wait for it to warm up a little so we can ride! 

it has been FUH-reezing at work lately. i’m all bundled up with leggings under my jeans, my pig puffy jacket and as many knits as i can pile on. it almost helps. 

trips to the comic book store generally prove to be good little photo ops. 

trying to keep this in mind while things are kind of crazy. 

omg a dog in a basket in the back of a mini car. i died. 

oh man, its been a week. i tell ya. luckily i’ve managed to stay on track with my photo a day (will post this week tomorrow) and will do my painting for the week this afternoon, but its been rough. despite the craziness, there have been bright spots that make everything okay.

i needed to switch up my music a bit, as i’m getting bored of my favorites, so i went with the disney classics station. best idea ever.

our spring intern class was brought in and pinches tacos catered the party.

also, there was a puppy!

i have a strange fascination with things that are kind of dirty, kind of falling apart, but still (in my eyes anyway) are still pretty. here’s a smattering of those dirty, pretty things i’ve noticed lately.

i’m not usually a big resolution maker. i usually feel like if there is a change to be made, just make it in the moment - why wait for new years? but this year i have a lot of projects i want to do and things that just need to happen, so i figured i’d write them down to keep myself accountable.

• a photo a day, which should be a cinch, but i want to give it some focus so i don’t end up with 365 pictures of my feet. 
• a painting a week. i’ve gotten so off track with my paintings and they’re the whole reason i even started the blog! i eventually want to do a craft fair, so i need to build up my inventory. 
• “wish you were here” feature. a little something i’ve been dreaming up in my head. i’ve tried features before, but those have been out of my comfort zone and ended up not getting off the ground. this one will be totally doable all on my own.
• lose at least 1 size. for the most part, i’m comfortable with the way i look, but i’m much happier when i’m smaller. it just feels better, obvi.
• blog redesign/organization. one thing i am NOT comfortable with is the way my blog looks. i’m so dissatisfied with it, and it gives me a ton of anxiety. this will be a tough one.
• write everything down. since college, i’ve almost always carried a little notebook with me and written down every single piece of important information or just ideas and to-do lists. lately i’ve misplaced this habit and i really need to get it back.

that’s it for now. marshall and i were talking about it on new years eve, and i know there were more, but these are the biggies. we also have some fun projects planned together that i’m pretty excited about and can’t wait to share. i have a feeling this will be a great year.

i caught this light by chance friday at work and it made me so happy. i just love pink sky so much.

i’m pretty sure i’m the easiest person ever to shop for. or maybe the people in my life just know me really well? maybe both ;-) (i have a four year old cousin - above is mostly his haul!)

theres a story behind this one: i was about 12 or 13 and my uncle jim had my name in our family exchange. he got me what he thought was an awesome gift - a pin made from a real fish! all the proceeds went to some wildlife organization. no one could believe he thought this would be great for a pre-teen girl, so the next year the entire family got uncle jim a fish related gift! every year since then, our christmas exchanges have had a theme, but this year uncle jim got me an ornament reminiscent of the pin. you know, for old times sake.

i love pretty packaging and anything los angeles related, obvi. 

my family must think know i get cold in 70 degree weather, too because i got a plethora of socks and warm fuzzies for my feet!
