while this guy spent a good portion of the last day of 2011 cleaning out his closet and taking a buttload of clothes to goodwill, i reached into the depths of mine for some nye inspiration. i’ve only worn this dress once before because its pretty loud and really little. i tried my best to make it a little less scandalous and more age-appropriate but still dressy and fun for our evening of excitement. also, i flippin love these booties. i kind of wish i could wear them everyday.

last night i went out with my mom, gramma and some more family to a little martini bar in town. unbeknownst to us, it was karaoke night. my mom’s hubby was in heaven, as he is a karaoke master. i was indifferent at first, but two extra-dirty martinis later i was singing a different tune. hall and oates, to be exact.

my new nutso holiday work schedule sometimes leaves me scrambling to find a photographer every (dress up) day, but i am LOVING the three o’clock light! it’s so friendly and flattering.
this is another outfit pretty blatantly copied from someone else (this time from jessica of what i wore). although now that i look back at it, it isn’t as exact as i was thinking it would be, which is good. but that’s why we’re all doing this, right? to share and inspire? plus, she was the first personal style fashion blog i ever followed and my inspiration to actually start doing it myself.

i’m trying to break out of my bubble, but also keeping in mind that its okay to have a routine and know what works. finding the balance and realizing that nobody really gives a shit, when it comes down to it. not in a bad way - just in a do-your-own-thing-and-be-happy-with-it kinda way.

let’s start off with the obvious: how effing awesome is this shirt? i think it was sophomore year (maybe junior?) of college that i went with my friends becca and jen and a couple other girls to see something corporate, the academy is, and hidden in plain view. i hopped on the emo music train kinda late, so i didn’t fully appreciate the music, but i did know enough to scoop up this baby. i’ve always been a sucker for a concert tee.
jump head - what is it - six years (?!) and becca’s getting married next month and jen and i will be standing up there with her! which reminds me, i need to go shoe shopping!
tee: hidden in plain view concert
skirt: f21
shoes: kate spade

the cutest stationary I got at kate spade forever ago and am just now getting around to using.

two outfit posts in one day!? geez! so for my birthday dinner we decided on the blue plate oysterette in santa monica. i know, i said i was looking for something not too expensive…but what can i say, i have great friends! and it was delicious, let me tell you. we split a sampler of oysters, i finally found a great bowl of clam chowder, and clam linguine with - with leftovers! oh, and about the outfit - this dress was a hand-me-down from an old co-worker and this was its debut! its adorable and i love it…but dont love what the sleeves do to my arms, so i threw on a cardigan for the restaurant. good thing i did too cause its cold by the ocean at night!
